How the Process Works From Start to Finish

Once the design is approved, it is transmitted to a milling unit that carves the restoration from a solid ceramic or composite block, typically in 10 to 20 minutes. The finished piece is then adjusted for fit, polished, and bonded into place during the same appointment. From preparation to placement, the entire process can often be completed in roughly two hours.
Materials Used in CAD/CAM Dentistry

Zirconia is valued for its exceptional durability and performs well under the heavy chewing forces of back teeth. It is one of the hardest ceramic materials used in dentistry, and newer formulations have improved its natural appearance while maintaining that strength. For posterior primary teeth that need to last several more years, zirconia is often an excellent choice.
Hybrid composite materials, which combine ceramic and resin, are also available and offer a slightly more flexible feel that can be gentler on opposing teeth. As dental material science advances, the options available within CAD/CAM systems continue to grow.
